Mandurah Estuary Bridge Duplication Project

This is an exciting project for our electorate and a key election commitment I am very proud of.

The project is fully funded for construction by the Western Australian Government ($55 million) and the Australian Federal ($55 million) Government. The new bridge is progressing, with the tender process nearing completion. As you can appreciate, a project of this scale and nature takes time, consideration, and significant collaboration.

Initially constructed in the 1980s, Mandurah Estuary Bridge was designed to be duplicated when required due to increased traffic. With population growth in Perth, Mandurah, Peel, and the broader Southwest regions increasing since this time, this demand has been reached.

Tenders are currently being assessed; a construction timeline will be developed when a tender has been awarded and announced. The new bridge will provide a duplication of the current bridge to the east side of the current one, hosting a total four lanes.

The duplication will be two lanes heading south and two lanes north, with the capacity for the bridge lanes to increase as the population in the region grows. The project will also include constructing a new shared path to improve connectivity and a universally accessible recreational fishing platform.

Project development activities continue.

Activities include:

  • Environmental and heritage investigations and approvals
  • Project scoping and concept design
  • Stakeholder consultation
  • Project procurement and contract preparation
